Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Computer Science Independent Online Friday Instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year. This paid contract position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in computer science concepts through engaging online sessions. Duties
- Develop and deliver engaging online computer science lessons tailored to diverse student needs, focusing on foundational programming, algorithms, and problem-solving skills
- Facilitate interactive sessions that promote active participation and critical thinking among students
- Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, and projects, providing constructive feedback to support continuous improvement
- Collaborate with educational coordinators to align lesson plans with curriculum standards and learning objectives
- Support students with special educational needs by adapting teaching methods and materials accordingly
- Maintain a positive online classroom atmosphere that encourages curiosity, collaboration, and perseverance
- Keep detailed records of student attendance, participation, and performance for reporting purposes
Skills
- Able to use Zoom and Google Classroom platforms.
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching computer science concepts at the secondary or post-secondary level
- Classroom experience or familiarity with online teaching platforms and digital educational tools
- Robust understanding of mathematics as it relates to algorithms, data structures, and computational thinking
- Excellent communication skills to clearly explain complex topics to students of varying skill levels
- Knowledge of special education strategies to support diverse learners effectively
- Laboratory or hands-on experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is highly desirable
- Ability to foster an inclusive learning environment that promotes engagement and confidence among all students
