Job Summary

The Library Programmer who reports to the Library Manager, is an energetic, creative, and community-minded team player who helps bring innovative programs, services, and experiences to life. This position supports the planning, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of library programming for all ages and encourages new ideas that inspire learning, creativity, and connection throughout the community.

The successful candidate will be passionate about working with people, eager to share their talents and interests, and excited to contribute to a workplace that values creativity, collaboration, and thinking outside the box.

Responsibilities

- A commitment to upholding the Canadian Federation of Library Associations’ position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion
- continue current programming such as story time, rhyme time, book club etc.
- Plan, develop, and deliver engaging programs for diverse demographics (preschoolers, teens, adults, and seniors).
- Coordinate community outreach initiatives, including visits to local schools and community hubs.
- Design promotional materials and assist with social media outreach to drive program attendance.
- Evaluate program success and adapt offerings based on community feedback and attendance trends. Keeping Statistics.
- Partnering and supporting community organizations within library programs
- Supporting other staff members with daily operational tasks as needed
- Demonstrates a good working knowledge of the full range of programs and services offered by the library.
- Demonstrates effective communication with a variety of audiences and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Demonstrates a commitment to continuous improvement,



self-directed training and development and adapts to change with a growth mindset.
- Maintain an up-to-date calendar of events
- Willingness to work varied shifts between the hours of 10 am and 8 pm as well as Saturdays to facilitate planned programing

Qualifications:

- Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in education, recreation, childcare, child development, or library studies.
- Creative, highly organized, and comfortable using digital tools.
- Ability to physically set up event spaces and lift as much as 20 kg (45 lbs).
- Strong communication and computer skills (MS Office, Canva, Email, social media)
- Clear Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Comfortable presenting programs and leading activities
- Able to work independently and in a team environment

Employment terms

Permanent Fulltime

30 hours per week (Versatile Schedule)

3-month probationary period

Benefit package after probation period

Valid Driver’s license
