Overview:

Julia’s Place Music Therapy is seeking a flexible and motivated musician/music educator to join our team. Music recreation programs take place at our fully-stocked clinic located at the north end of Brampton and/or within the GTA/Dufferin County community. Our students and clients are diverse in age, culture, and needs.

The successful candidate will enjoy working independently and within a team environment, and will value personal and professional growth. The ideal candidate is warm, approachable, and reliable. This role includes providing individual and group music education programs and specialized music recreation programs with opportunities for program development, if desired. It is expected that the recreation music facilitator prepares for all of their programs, keeps records of programs, and evaluates programs as needed. All Julia’s Place staff are expected to relate to their clients in a positive manner,



recognizing and utilizing the unique abilities of each individual.

Specific Responsibilities

Duties and responsibility of the music educator will be to:

- Maintain timely communication with Julia’s Place staff and clients
- Answer emails and phone calls as needed
- Participate in weekly team meetings
- Participate in supervision as needed
- Submit time sheet at the end of each month
- Provide music education programs and specialized music recreation programs.
- Conduct programs as scheduled
- Maintain professional attire at all times
- Complete paperwork as needed
- This includes: program checklists, update reports (templates provided)
- Complete other tasks as requested

Qualifications:

- Robust musical skills
- High level of proficiency in guitar and/or piano
- Ability to sing on pitch
- Experience with adults and children with disabilities and various diagnosis, including Autism Spectrum Disorders, is an asset

Other Skills:

- Proficient in reading, writing, speaking and comprehension in the English Language
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of Google systems

Requirements:

- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Valid CPR and Standard First Aid (C) certificate
- AODA certificate ()
- Availability on some evenings and potentially Saturdays

Working Conditions:

- Lifting and transportation of instruments.
- May be required to provide hand-over-hand assistance to clients
- Some clients may have unpredictable behaviours
- Driving to different locations may be required
