Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and caring Home Child Care Provider to provide in-home care and supervision for two children aged 11 and 14. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the children’s safety, well-being, daily routines, and developmental needs in a nurturing home environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Home Child Care Provider will perform duties including, but not limited to:

- Supervise and care for children in the employer’s home
- Ensure a safe, supportive, and respectful environment at all times
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks appropriate for pre-teen and early teenage children
- Assist with homework, school projects, and study routines, as needed
- Encourage positive behavior, good manners, and healthy habits
- Organize and supervise age-appropriate activities, including indoor and outdoor recreational activities
- Monitor emotional well-being and provide guidance appropriate to the children’s developmental stages
- Maintain daily routines, including before- and after-school schedules
- Accompany children to and from school or extracurricular activities or appointments
- Perform light housekeeping duties related to childcare (tidying play areas, laundry for children, meal clean-up)




- Communicate regularly with parents regarding the children’s progress, needs, and any concerns

Requirements

- Completion of secondary school
- Three to five years of experience caring for children is required (experience with school-aged children preferred)
- Ability to provide a nurturing, patient, and responsible level of care
- Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills
- Criminal record check and references required
- Ability to work independently in a private household

Work Environment

- Work takes place in a private home in Coquitlam, BC (V3E 0T5)
- Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely.
- Combination of supervision, light physical activity, and routine household tasks
- Long-term, stable employment prospect

Employment Term and Compensation

- Full-time (30 hours per week)
- $20.00/hour
- Employment term: two years
