Overview

The Pastry Cook is responsible for working in conjunction with the pastry team to produce superior quality breads, pastry, ice creams and desserts in sufficient quantities to meet the daily demand and par levels. Pastry Cook reports directly to the Head Pastry Chef and Head Chef. All goods produced must meet the standards of the Company and all food safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

- Ongoing communication with the Head and pastry team to discuss daily Mise en Place
- Adhering to and practicing the general protocols, methods, and positive habits at FR
- Ensure proper storage and handling of products
- Ensure quality and consistency especially in peak time of operation
- Follow proper par levels to minimize food spoilage and waste
- Maintain personal cleanliness throughout the shift
- Maintain clean and organized kitchen
- Execute any new menu items or changes as per Head Pastry Chef's instruction
- Open-minded for constructive criticism and areas of improvement
- Maintaining a healthy workplace environment
- Ability to multitask by handling various production demands
- Quality check and setting up the line before service starts

Requirements





- A minimum of 1 year of pastry experience or in similar environment
- Dessert plating is an asset
- Ability to operate all kitchen equipment
- Robust time management, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work supervised and unsupervised
- Ability to follow recipes and methods consistently with attention to detail

Working Conditions

- Must be able to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to move products up 50 pounds on occasions and up to 30 pounds on regular basis
- Will be constantly exposed to high temperatures in the kitchen environment
- Will mostly spend 100% of the shift standing
- Manual dexterity required to safely use knives and other kitchen equipment and tools
