Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Buyer to join our procurement team! In this vital role, you will drive the sourcing and purchasing of materials, components, and services essential to our manufacturing operations. Your expertise will ensure seamless supply chain processes, optimize vendor relationships, and maintain competitive pricing. As a key player in our procurement function, you will leverage advanced ERP systems to manage inventory levels, streamline sourcing strategies, and support production schedules. Responsibilities

- Manage purchasing activities for imported food products.
- Create and maintain purchase orders.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate product replenishment.
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with domestic and international suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, lead times, and purchasing terms.
- Coordinate international shipments from suppliers to our warehouse.
- Track ocean containers and monitor shipment progress.
- Work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and warehouses to ensure timely deliveries.
- Review shipping documentation, including:

Commercial Invoices

Packing Lists

Bills of Lading

Certificates of Origin

Import documentation

- Coordinate customs clearance and resolve shipping issues when required.
- Monitor production and shipping schedules to minimize delays.
- Use SPS Commerce to support purchasing and customer order activities.
- Maintain accurate purchasing and product information within the ERP system.
- Work closely with the Accounting, Warehouse, Sales, and Operations teams.
- Ensure compliance with CFIA import requirements and company procedures.




- Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency, inventory levels, and overall supply chain performance..

Qualifications

- Experience in the food import industry is required.
- Experience purchasing Italian or Mediterranean food products is considered a strong asset.
- Hands-on experience using SPS Commerce/ Walmart 360.
- Experience coordinating international shipments and ocean containers.
- Experience working with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and transportation providers.
- Strong understanding of international shipping documentation.
- Proficiency with ERP systems for managing supply chain operations.
- Strong vendor management skills with the ability to negotiate effectively on pricing and contractual terms.
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies, supply chain processes, and procurement best practices.
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating across departments and negotiating with suppliers.
- Ability to analyze market data to inform purchasing decisions and optimize inventory levels.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
