Position Summary
Reporting directly to the CEO, the General Manager is the senior operating leader responsible for translating company strategy into coordinated day-to-day execution. The role provides leadership across manufacturing operations, project delivery, resource and capacity planning, commercial coordination, financial performance, quality, safety, and organizational effectiveness, with accountability for business results within delegated authority.
The General Manager will establish clear priorities, strengthen management systems, resolve cross-functional bottlenecks, and ensure that projects and manufactured modules are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards. The successful candidate will combine strategic judgment with visible, hands-on leadership in the office, manufacturing facility, and project environment.
Key Responsibilities
Executive Leadership and Business Planning
- Work with the CEO to develop and execute annual business and operating plans, budgets, growth priorities, capacity plans, and performance targets.
- Translate strategic objectives into clear departmental plans, accountabilities, timelines, and measurable results.
- Provide the CEO with timely, accurate reporting on business performance, operational risks, major decisions, and corrective actions.
- Lead management meetings, follow through on commitments, and ensure alignment across sales, estimating, design/engineering, procurement, manufacturing, project delivery, finance, human resources, and administration.
Manufacturing and Operational Management
- Oversee the day-to-day performance of manufacturing and assigned operational functions, with clear accountability for safety, productivity, schedule reliability, quality, cost, and output.
- Align sales backlog and project commitments with master production schedules, labour, equipment, materials, floor capacity, logistics, and subcontracted work.
- Establish practical operating procedures, workflow controls, escalation paths, and dashboards for safety, quality, productivity, schedule, cost, and delivery performance.
- Identify production constraints, waste, rework, delays, and recurring failures; lead root-cause analysis and corrective action.
- Lead continuous improvement practices, including standard work, visual management, 5S, root-cause problem-solving, and Lean methods appropriate to the business.
Project Delivery and Cross-Functional Coordination
- Oversee multiple modular construction projects from contract handoff through design release, procurement, fabrication, logistics, site installation, commissioning, deficiency resolution, and closeout.
- Establish clear project governance and stage-gate controls so scope, schedule, budget, quality requirements, responsibilities, design releases, and key decisions are actively managed.
- Review project status, cost-to-complete forecasts, work-in-progress, changes, procurement constraints, cash-flow impacts, risks, and recovery plans with project and functional leaders.
- Ensure timely coordination among clients, consultants, architects, engineers, general contractors, suppliers, subcontractors, site teams, and internal departments.
- Escalate material risks promptly and ensure corrective actions are assigned, documented, and completed.
Financial and Commercial Performance
- Develop and manage operating budgets with the CEO and finance function, with accountability for P&L; performance within delegated authority, cost control, margin protection, cash discipline, and profitability.
- Review financial and operational reports, job costs, work-in-progress, labour utilization, purchasing performance, change-order exposure, and forecast-to-complete information.
- Support bid/no-bid and contract-review decisions, and ensure major commitments are supported by appropriate scope, pricing, capacity, commercial terms, risk review, and documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve gross margin, reduce avoidable costs, strengthen working capital, and improve forecasting accuracy.
- Support contract review, commercial negotiations, change management, claims prevention,
and resolution of significant client or vendor issues.
Client, Market, and Growth Support
- Support the CEO and Sales Manager in evaluating major opportunities and aligning the sales pipeline with delivery feasibility, production capacity, pricing assumptions, risk, and resource requirements.
- Participate in key client meetings, presentations, project reviews, and negotiations as required.
- Maintain strong senior-level relationships with clients and project stakeholders, address concerns promptly, and support client retention and repeat business.
- Monitor market conditions, competitor activity, supply-chain developments, construction trends, and emerging opportunities relevant to modular building solutions.
- Represent INTE Modular professionally at client meetings, industry events, site visits, and business functions.
Quality, Safety, Risk, and Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure operations comply with Ontario occupational health and safety requirements, applicable building codes, permits, contractual obligations, environmental requirements, and industry standards.
- Champion proactive safety leadership, hazard identification, incident prevention, investigation, corrective action, and required training.
- Establish and enforce quality assurance and quality control processes throughout design, procurement, manufacturing, delivery, and project closeout.
- Maintain an active business and project risk-management process, including contingency planning and timely escalation of material risks.
- Ensure required licences, permits, inspections, records, certifications, and compliance documentation are current and properly maintained.
Supply Chain, Vendors, and Resource Management
- Oversee procurement and supply-chain performance, including long-lead planning and make-or-buy decisions, to support production schedules, project commitments, quality requirements, and cost objectives.
- Develop effective relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, logistics providers, consultants, and other strategic partners.
- Use supplier and subcontractor performance measures to evaluate capacity, quality, delivery, lead times, risk, and commercial terms; resolve issues and develop alternatives when needed.
- Optimize the allocation and utilization of labour, equipment, materials, facilities, and external resources.
- Approve or recommend significant purchases and commitments in accordance with delegated authority and company controls.
Systems, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement
- Establish a practical management operating system with weekly priorities, project controls, action logs, and KPI reviews covering safety, quality, schedule adherence, productivity, cost, margin, and cash flow.
- Ensure operational and project information is accurate, current, documented, and accessible to decision-makers.
- Evaluate and improve the use of ERP, project management, scheduling, document control, CRM, financial, and reporting tools.
- Use data to identify trends, test assumptions, prioritize improvement work, and verify whether corrective actions produce sustained results.
- Perform other related duties and lead special initiatives as assigned by the CEO.
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.
- A master’s degree or relevant professional certification, such as PMP, P.Eng., Lean/Six Sigma, or a recognized operations credential, is considered an asset.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in an environment combining manufacturing or fabrication operations with construction or complex project delivery.
- At least five years of experience in a senior management role with responsibility for people, budgets,
schedules, operational performance, and business results.
- Demonstrated success leading multiple concurrent projects or production programs through planning, procurement, fabrication, logistics, site installation, and closeout.
- Strong financial and commercial experience, including budgeting, job costing, forecasting, margin management, contract administration, change management, vendor management, and risk management.
- Experience in modular construction or off-site manufacturing is strongly preferred; exposure to steel fabrication, building systems, industrialized construction, or data-centre infrastructure is an asset.
- Experience implementing ERP or project-control systems, standard operating procedures, KPIs, and Lean or continuous-improvement initiatives is preferred.

Working Conditions
- This is a full-time leadership position primarily based in Ancaster, Ontario.
- Regular travel may be required to INTE facilities, manufacturing locations, project sites, client offices, supplier locations, and industry events.
- The role requires regular presence in manufacturing and construction environments and the ability to comply with site-specific safety requirements.
- Occasional work outside regular business hours may be required to address operational issues, deadlines, client requirements, or critical project events.
- A valid driver’s licence and the ability to travel within Ontario and elsewhere as business needs require are expected.
