Job Summary:

The employee who occupies this position will be expected to operate various pieces of heavy equipment at our quarry in Lower Cove including excavators, loaders, and haul trucks.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

Completion of High School (or equivalent) is required. Candidates must have completed an acceptable Heavy Equipment Operator program from a recognized post-secondary institution. Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 3 or Class 1 drivers’ license with traction engine endorsement (#8) and air brake endorsement (#9), and a clean drivers abstract is also required. Candidates must have operating experience in front-end loader, excavator and haul truck and be able to demonstrate to the satisfaction of the employer their ability to operate these pieces of equipment in a safe, competent, and efficient manner. Certification in the operation of a grader and other pieces of heavy equipment is a definite asset. A power line hazard certificate is also required for this position. The possession of an unrestricted driver’s license is an ongoing condition of employment.

HOURS OF WORK

The successful candidate will be required to participate in shift work in accordance with the provisions of the collective agreement.
