We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a resilient woman in her senior years living independently in East York. She experienced a stroke over a year ago and has made a remarkable recovery. While her long-term memory remains sharp and she takes great pride in maintaining her home—often seen with a broom in hand first thing in the morning—her short-term memory requires some support. She's determined to remain in her own home and continues to climb stairs and move about independently. She's a polite Italian woman who values her independence and the cleanliness of her space.

Responsibilities:

This role focuses primarily on companionship and light support around the home. You'll spend quality time with the client, providing friendly conversation and a reassuring presence. Light housekeeping duties include washing dishes, tidying up as needed, and helping maintain the clean workplace she's accustomed to. You may assist with bedroom linens, laundry, and keeping the bathroom and kitchen sanitary. Occasional reminders for personal care routines, such as showering, may be needed due to short-term memory challenges. The role also includes providing memory prompts and gentle redirection when necessary. The client handles her own mobility, personal care, meals, and medications independently, so physical care needs are minimal.

What We're Looking For:

We need someone who is warm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. The ideal caregiver will be fluent in both English and Italian to communicate comfortably with the client. Experience supporting individuals with memory changes is important, as is the ability to provide gentle prompts without being intrusive.



We value reliability and consistency—showing up on time and building a trusting relationship. The caregiver should respect the client's independence while being observant and taking initiative when light assistance is needed. A calm, comforting presence who can make the client feel at ease is essential.

Schedule:

We're looking for someone available for two visits per week, with each visit lasting approximately 2-3 hours. The family is flexible on specific days and times but is considering a schedule such as Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The start date is flexible and can be discussed based on mutual availability.
