Dechant Construction Ltd.is looking for an experienced Project Manager to oversee various projects all over Alberta. The position will be based out of our Edmonton office, with the understanding that depending on project size and scope, there may be a requirement to oversee the projects from the field. Preference given to candidates who have previous experience in a related role and understand the challenges of working in a civil construction project management role.

- Willing to Travel and Work in Remote Locations
- Minimum 3 years experience in a Project Management Role
- Valid Drivers License
- Preference given to those registered or eligible to be registered APEGA as an E.I.T or P.Eng.

Certifications : CSTS, Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance (Supervisory Level), H2S Alive, WHMIS, and Leadership for Safety Excellence

Job Description: Project Manager
The Project Manager is responsible for overall project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards. The responsibilities span a broad spectrum, covering all areas of project management such as project planning, cost management, time management, quality management, and safety management. The project manager reports directly to the Construction Manager.

Among the requirements are:

- Strong verbal and written communication
- Ability to plan and organize a team effort, lead by example
- Full working knowledge of Microsoft office and Microsoft project
- Valuable client management and goodwill building ability
- Capacity to motivate, lead and boost morale of workers
- Effective time management and logical decision making ability
- Capacity to handle pressure
- Strong technical and reporting skills
- Commitment to corporate and personal growth and development




- Direct oversight on meeting all contract requirements and reporting

Typical work activities
Work activities may vary, however, tasks typically involve :

- Oversight of construction of project from start to finish
- Project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed
- Develop schedule, cashflow projections and manpower histograms
- Creating teams, develop objectives and goals of each, and assign responsibilities
- Minimizing exposure and risk
- Ensuring construction activities move according to predetermined schedule
- Devise project work plans and make revisions when the need arises
- Complete and track all project controls, trackers, LEM's and progress certificates
- Communicate effectively with contractors responsible for completing various phases of the project
- Coordinate efforts of all parties involved in the project
- Monitor the progress of construction activities on a regular basis and hold regular meetings with all parties
- Maintain strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality and safety standards
- Ensuring all project documentation is complete
- Identify elements of project design and scope likely to give rise to disputes and claims
- Serve as key link with clients and review/prepare all deliverables

SHOULD HAVE EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING:

- Undergrounds - storm, sewer, water
- Road construction
- Clearing
- Working Near and Around Existing Structures
- Drainage and Services
- Earthworks
- Geotechnical
- Legal, Environmental and Safety Standards
