Job Description

TOPS Telecommunications Inc. (TOPS Office Solutions) is currently hiring a VoIP and Network Technician in Kamloops, BC. This is a full-time Technical Assistance Centre position. You will be working both in office and at customer sites installing and supporting our up-to-date UCaaS VoIP platforms, existing legacy phone systems, network equipment, and communications wiring. You will work with a highly collaborative team and build customer relationships by providing excellent service.

Responsibilities

- Install and service VoIP Unified Communications platforms.
- Program VoIP phones, softphones, ring groups, and IVR systems.
- Provide training on VoIP platforms to end users.
- Install and service firewalls, routers, switches, Wi-Fi access points, and PtP bridges.
- Service legacy PBX platforms such as Mitel, Toshiba, Nortel, and Panasonic.
- Document all service activities, change logs, and customer interactions in our internal ticketing system.
- Collaborate on large projects with other team members.




- Participate in after-hours service work and on-call rotation.

Requirements

- Knowledge of SIP and TDM voice technologies and protocols.
- Fundamental understanding of network protocols and the OSI model.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and virtualization.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, and Wi-Fi access points.
- Understanding of Layer 1 materials, technologies, protocols.
- Willing to work in noisy environments, climb ladders, and go in crawl spaces.
- Reliable transportation, valid drivers license, criminal record check.
- Be a hard worker, excellent communicator, and lifelong learner.

Value Adds

- Direct experience with VoIP and/or legacy PBX platforms.
- Valid Cisco networking certifications.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Familiarity with Cloud services including Amazon AWS, VMware, or Google Cloud.
- Programming experience with Python, Go, C++, or other programming languages.
