Job Summary & Key Responsibilities

A qualified Part-Time Academic is needed to teach the following course from Jan 11th to April 13th , 2027. Class is delivered in the Winter semester on Wednesdays from 8:30 pm to 10:00 pm AST (approximately) with an online intensive component during the mid April (3.5 days in Halifax). Travel expenses for the intensive purpose will be covered, should the selected Candidate must travel to Halifax during the intensive.

This is a position with a strong emphasis on high-quality teaching, excellent communication and dedication to student success with strong ability to offer education over online and blended format.

This course introduces students to the key theories and practices of organizational collaboration and gives students an understanding of the principles used to unlock a team’s ability to generate new ideas and reach better solutions by tapping into diverse perspectives. The course unfolds across three modules with several lessons within each module. The overarching goal of this course is the focus on turning tensions between stakeholders and ideas into opportunities for innovative growth through collaboration. Students will be introduced to a range of theories and practices that act as drivers for collaboration in contemporary organizational contexts and shifting away from routine and conventional ways of gathering. Then in modules two and three, students will explore a diverse range of collaboration approaches and apply them to resolve complex problems in the workplace.

During the in-person intensive days, the focus shifts to applying the learning outcomes in businesses and organizations. The course is offered via blended format (synchronous and asynchronous materials)



and students typically have 5-15 years of work experience in their respective fields. While the weekly classes are held online, the intensive component is entirely in-person in Halifax.

The Part-Time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including lectures, test preparation and evaluation. The part-time academic should be available for class lectures and two hours per week for consultation with students. Additional meetings with the team of faculty teaching MBA courses may be required (approximately 1 hours / month). The part-time academic reports to Dr. Hamed Aghakhani, the MBA Program Director.

Qualifications/Requirements of Position

- A relevant Masters or PhD degree is required.
- The successful applicant must have demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter and practical experience as well as established a consistent record of effective teaching.
- The successful applicant must be able to incorporate organizational perspectives / themes in the course.
- Excellent oral/written and presentation skills are required.
- The successful candidate must also be able to meet the Faculty of Management’s accrediting body (AACSB) academic or professional qualification requirements.

In addition, the successful candidate is expected to demonstrate the following:

- Demonstrated experience teaching this or relevant courses at the graduate level.
- An established professional and academic network within the community, sufficient to secure and host guest speakers (both industry practitioners and academics) for the course, when needed.
- Familiarity with teaching in online synchronous and asynchronous formats will be considered an asset.




- Familiarity with the Brightspace learning management workplace will be considered an asset.

Salary Range/Pay Rate

$8,260 per course (In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement)
