GEM Health Care Group has been operating in Atlantic Canada since 1979 in the Seniors' Healthcare sector. We are a leader in diversity and inclusion, and our team continues to grow. We are currently seeking for a Gardener to install and maintain the flowers, trees and green spaces on the property.

Gardener responsibilities include monitoring the health of all plants and greenscapes, watering and feeding plants, trimming trees and shrubs, fertilizing and mowing lawns, weeding gardens and keeping green spaces and walkways clear of debris and litter. You should know how to use and maintain landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers and fertilizers, while following health and safety regulations.

To be successful in this profession, you must be physically healthy and capable of operating both small and large gear. The ideal candidate will be friendly, professional, and knowledgeable about successful gardening techniques.

Ultimately, you will make sure our gardens and green spaces are always healthy and beautiful.

Responsibilities

· Maintain and grow the garden to ensure it meets specific requirements and expectations.

· Perform basic maintenance such as cutting the grass, emptying bins, managing weed control and leaf raking.

· Plant and nurture new trees, flowers, and various plants.

· Work with hand tools and basic light machinery such as plant vehicles, and small diggers.

· Service all garden equipment and machinery.





· Maintain a clean garden by clearing rubbish and litter from the garden and grounds.

· Provide guidance to management on matters related to the garden.

· Lawns and/or sporting fields may be irrigated, mowed, raked, and trimmed.

· Does a variety of job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

· Valid Driver’s Licensed,

· Horticulture or Agricultural student considered an asset.

· 1-2 years experience as a Gardener considered an asset.

· A certification in horticulture or landscaping would be an asset.

· Must be a reliable worker who is able to perform routine tasks without supervision.

· Robust attention to detail required.

· Ability to handle manual and power tools relevant to the trade.

· Capability to conduct grounds-keeping duties.

· Ability to analyze and complete landscape plans.

· Fertilizer and/or pesticide application knowledge.

· Lifting and manipulating heavy objects.
