For Sessional Faculty

The Gender and Social Justice Program invites applications for the following teaching position to be offered in the Fall 2026 session.

Term : Fall 2026, September 8 – December 23, 2026 (final exams December 11-23, 2026)

Location : McMaster Main Campus – In-person

Projected Enrollment : 225

Projected TA Support : 4 - 5 TAs @ 130+3 hours (enrolment dependent)

Wage Rate * $9,435.73 (as per CUPE Local 3906, Unit 2 Collective Agreement)

Start Time and Duration : 2 hours lecture/week (Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:20 & Thursdays 3:30 – 4:20) This class has tutorials to be led by TAs.

Course Description/Relevant Employment Duties

An interdisciplinary introduction to Gender Studies and Critical Race Theory focusing on how gender and race shape and are shaped by culture (including popular culture), systems of power and institutional ideologies.

Required Qualifications

- PhD completed (or near completion) in a relevant field.
- Evidence of training or experience in the subject areas relevant to the course.
- Previous experience teaching at the university level.
A commitment to incorporating principles of accessibility, equity, diversity and inclusion in teaching practice.

Preferred Qualifications





- Experience leading or collaborating with TAs or other teaching staff.
- Experience employing flexible and accessible pedagogies.
- Experience using Brightspace/D2L and/or other digital technologies for teaching and learning.

*Supplemented Fees- 15.02(a) The employee may be eligible to receive supplemented fees in accordance with Schedule C of the Collective Agreement. The actual rate of pay when in excess of the base rate of pay is deemed to include any supplemented fees owing, to the extent of the excess amount. If the actual rate of pay is less than the sum of the base rate of pay and the supplemented fees owing, then the employee shall receive the difference.

Pay Transparency Statement

The starting salary will not be less than $17,845.36 per 6 units, or $8,922.68 per 3 units.
