We are seeking a responsible and dependable Daycare Driver to safely transport children to and from daycare facilities. The candidate having early childhood educator's certification is an asset. The ideal candidate will possess excellent driving skills, strong communication abilities, and a caring attitude to ensure a positive experience for children and parents alike. A valid Alberta Class 4 Driver's Licence is considered a strong asset for this position. Applicants who do not currently hold a Class 4 licence must be willing to obtain one within a timeframe specified by Jasper Gates Daycare & OSC as a condition of continued employment in positions requiring transportation duties.
Employees who are required to transport children must possess a valid Alberta Class 4 Driver's Licence before performing any commercial passenger transportation responsibilities, as required under Alberta regulations. Jasper Gates Daycare & OSC reserves the right to assign transportation duties only to employees who meet all applicable licensing and legal requirements.
Duties
- Safely operate commercial vehicles to pick up and drop off children at designated locations
- Ensure the safety of all children during transit by adhering to traffic laws and safety protocols
- Assist with loading and unloading children, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Maintain cleanliness and routine maintenance of the vehicle to ensure optimal operation
- Communicate effectively with parents, daycare staff, and children regarding schedules or any issues during transit
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and state regulations related to transportation of minors
- Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, and any incidents that occur during transportation
Experience
- Previous experience in commercial driving or transportation is preferred
- Strong customer service skills to interact positively with children, parents, and staff
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when required for loading or unloading strollers or equipment
- Excellent communication skills for clear and skilled interactions with families and team members
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for operating the vehicle used for transportation
- Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety regulations related to transporting minors
