Payroll & Accounts Specialist (AR/AP)

Job Status: Full-Time (Monday to Friday)
Location: North Vancouver, BC (In Office)
Salary Range: $70,000–$85,000 per year (depending on qualifications and experience)

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Payroll & Accounts Specialist to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for processing payroll while supporting day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced construction setting and values accuracy, confidentiality, and exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll

- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule
- Maintain employee payroll records and files
- Process new hires, terminations, wage changes, and employee updates
- Calculate overtime, statutory holiday pay, vacation pay, and other payroll adjustments
- Prepare Records of Employment (ROEs)
- Administer employee benefits and deductions
- Ensure compliance with employment standards and payroll legislation
- Reconcile payroll reports and assist with year-end payroll activities, including T4 preparation
- Respond to employee payroll inquiries
- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of Sage Intacct

Accounts Payable

- Process vendor invoices and employee expense claims
- Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation
- Prepare payment runs (EFT, cheques, and electronic payments)
- Reconcile vendor statements
- Maintain vendor records
- Assist with month-end AP reconciliations

Accounts Receivable

- Prepare customer invoices and progress billings
- Monitor outstanding accounts and collections
- Process customer payments




- Reconcile customer accounts
- Assist with monthly billing and reporting

General Accounting Support

- Maintain organized financial records and documentation
- Assist with month-end and year-end procedures
- Support account reconciliations
- Prepare reports for management as required
- Assist with continuous improvement of accounting processes
- Perform other administrative and accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, Payroll Administration, or a related field.
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation.
- Minimum 5 years of payroll and AR/AP experience.
- Current working knowledge of legislation such as Employment Standards, Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, Income Tax Act & Regulations and Workers’ Compensation.
- Experience administering complex payroll within construction, Indigenous organisations, or First Nation government environments is highly desirable.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience with Sage Intacct and other accounting/ERP systems is required.
