Position Title: Cafeteria Worker
Department: Encore Café

Position Summary
The Cafeteria Worker is responsible for providing friendly customer service while assisting with the daily operation of the café. This role includes preparing and serving food and beverages, maintaining food safety standards, stocking products, operating the point-of-sale system, and ensuring the café remains clean, organized, and welcoming throughout the day.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Greeting customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Serving breakfast, lunch, beverages, and grab-and-go food items.
- Preparing straightforward food items such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, coffee beverages, and snacks.
- Replenishing food displays and ensuring products are fresh, well-presented, and properly labelled.
- Operating the point-of-sale (POS) system and accurately processing customer transactions.
- Handling cash, debit, and credit card payments.
- Maintaining cleanliness of counters, equipment, dining areas, and food displays.
- Washing dishes and small wares as required.
- Monitoring food temperatures and following all food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Restocking supplies including beverages, snacks, condiments,
disposable service ware, and ingredients.
- Assisting with receiving deliveries and organizing inventory.
- Reporting low stock levels or equipment issues to the Café Manager.
- Following opening and closing procedures.
- Working collaboratively with kitchen and café staff to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in food service, cafés, cafeterias, restaurants, or hospitality is considered an asset.
- Food Handler Certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience operating a POS system is an asset.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Comfortable bending, reaching, carrying, and performing repetitive tasks.
- Ability to work in a busy kitchen and customer service environment.
