Customer Service Representative — EPCOR Building Supply

Location: Burlington, ON (in-office) Job Type: Full time Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications

About Us

EPCOR Building Supply is a Canadian manufacturer and distributor of concrete form hardware, accessories and construction products, specializing in Division 3 (Concrete) and Division 7 (Thermal & Moisture Protection).

We represent many of the most recognized names in the industry — Dayton Superior, Euclid Chemical, MAPEI, W. R. Meadows, Meadow Burke, Tremco, Johns Manville, Carlisle, Henry, GAF, SOPREMA, Hilti/STI and more — alongside our own custom-manufactured formwork hardware and insulated curing tarps. Contractors come to us because we know the products, we stock them, and we deliver, with next-day service in many regions.

The Role

This is a desk-based, customer-facing seat. You'll be the voice contractors hear when they call us — and, just as often, the voice they hear when we call them.

The calls you make aren't cold calls. They're to customers we already work with: checking in, seeing what's on their board, asking what's coming up next quarter. Contractors don't always tell you what they need until someone asks. That's the job — stay in touch, listen for the opening, and bring the right product to it.

You don't need to know every product on day one. You do need to want to learn them, because knowing what you sell is what separates an order-taker from someone a contractor calls first.

For the right person this role is a runway into outside sales. Learn the accounts and the product lines from the desk, and territory work follows.

What You'll Do

Build the relationship

- Make regular outbound calls to existing and past customers to maintain contact and stay in front of their next project
- Ask the right questions to uncover upcoming needs,

and follow up on quotes and project activity
- Present our vendor lines and services — explain what a product does, why it fits the job, and what the alternative costs
- Flag larger opportunities to the outside sales team and support them through to close

Serve the customer

- Respond promptly to customer inquiries by phone, email and in person
- Prepare quotes, enter and manage orders through to delivery
- Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure orders ship accurate and on time
- Open new accounts and verify credit; follow up on accounts receivable
- Advise customers on product selection and jobsite solutions
- Maintain our CRM and ERP databases (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central)

Know the product

- Learn our vendor lines inside and out — concrete accessories, admixtures, curing compounds, waterproofing membranes, air/vapour barriers, sealants, firestop, insulation and winter protection
- Take part in vendor product training and technical sessions
- Occasionally visit customer sites, jobsites or other company offices
- Support trade shows, contractor events and seminars

Support operations

- Assist the purchasing manager with inbound and outbound delivery scheduling
- Monitor inventory levels and help execute replenishment orders

What We're Looking For

- 3–5 years in construction or building products sales, inside sales, or customer service (preferred)
- Comfortable picking up the phone and building a rapport over time — this role rewards consistency, not pressure

- Genuine curiosity about how products work and where they're used — technical aptitude matters more than a technical background
- Excellent communication skills and strong personal initiative
- Able to work with minimum supervision in a busy environment, and to sell and serve as part of a team
- Commitment to behaving honestly and ethically while providing superior customer service
- Comfortable with CRM/ERP systems and general computer work
- Any relevant education or training is an asset
- Bilingual (English/French) is not required, but is a significant asset
- Valid driver's licence for occasional customer and site visits
- Interest in growing into an outside sales role over time is welcome, but not required

What We Offer

- Base pay of $20.00 – $23.00/hour, plus or minus based on experience and qualifications
- Benefits plan: medical, dental, specialized care
- Additional bonuses available based on predetermined performance criteria
- Sales training and personal development programs, including vendor-led product training
- 100% reimbursement of business travel expenses, including mileage
- Laptop and all tools provided
- A clear path into outside sales for those who want it — we promote from the desk
