About Us:
Mack Construction Services Ltd. is a leader in telecommunications infrastructure, fiber optic network deployments, and civil construction. We are a turnkey utility construction company, specializing in horizontal directional drilling (HDD), hydrovac, excavating, trenching, fiber splicing and underground utility construction in the telecom, utility, and pipeline industry. As we continue to expand, we are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor to oversee field operations and ensure project success.
Job Summary:
The Field Supervisor is responsible for in office project execution, crew management, safety compliance, and quality control. This role ensures fiber optic network construction, splicing, and civil work (trenching, drilling, and aerial installations) are completed efficiently, on schedule, and to industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead field crews in FTTH/FTTx deployments, fiber splicing, and civil construction. Inclusive of drops, mainline, and cable.
- Ensure projects adhere to timelines, budgets, and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, subcontractors, and suppliers for efficient execution.
- Supervise trenching, boring, placement, fiber installation, and splicing operations.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and compliance with industry standards.
- Enforce health & safety regulations, ensuring all personnel follow proper procedures.
- Resolve on-site issues, troubleshoot problems, and adjust schedules as needed.
- Provide regular progress reports and documentation to management.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and materials.
- Train and mentor field personnel to enhance productivity and quality standards.
- Reporting to the Construction Manager
Qualifications & Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in fiber optic network construction, FTTH/FTTx, splicing, and civil construction.
- Strong knowledge of underground and aerial fiber installation methods.
- Experience managing field crews, subcontractors, and construction schedules.
- Knowledge of fiber splicing, OTDR testing, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings, blueprints, locates and fiber network maps.
- Familiarity with local permitting, safety regulations, and construction codes.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office/SharePoint, construction management software, and GIS mapping tools is a plus.
- Experience with SiteDocs, MOTIVE, etc. an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between job sites.
