About the job:
- Collect geological samples from RC drilling, blast holes, and other sampling activities in an open pit mining environment.
- Ensure samples are collected accurately and according to established sampling procedures.
- Complete sample preparation, labeling, and documentation to maintain sample quality and traceability.
- Maintain accurate records, including sample data, shipping records, and daily reports.
- Handle and transport collected samples to designated collection areas.
- Communicate effectively with geology, surveying, drilling, and operations teams to support sampling activities.
- Use GPS units, maps, and drilling layouts to locate sampling areas.
- Complete data entry and maintain accurate information using Excel.
- Participate in safety meetings and follow all site safety procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCAL TO TIMMINS.
Start/ End Hours- 7/7 or 5-5-4 rotation,
12 hr. shifts
What you need:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience in geological sampling, or related mining operations is advantageous.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License required.
- Previous experience working in a mining environment is an asset.
- Surface Common Core certification is an asset.
- Ability to work safely in an open pit setting.
- Physically capable of walking on uneven surfaces and carrying up to 25 kg.
- Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills.
- Ability to read maps, follow drilling layouts, and use GPS equipment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
