Innovative Fuel Systems, a leading alternative fuel systems company based in Edmonton, AB, has an immediate opening for a Automotive Controls Lead Engineer with focus on Heavy-Duty diesel engines, automotive and dual-fuel natural gas engine development. Job Summary

Working with the R&D; team, the Automotive Controls Lead Engineer will provide guidance, leadership and support as related to Firmware and IFS ECU logic, controls and operation.

Responsibilities

- Programming of embedded control systems; data logging, validation, and analysis of heavy duty (HD) diesel dual fuel engine ECU and controls equipment

- Transparent documentation of all research and development work

- Directs and manages field tests to define the performance characteristics of the vehicle taking into consideration the effects and relationships of technology components and heavy-duty engine

- Designs, executes, and supports testing procedures

- Develop software and controls to allow for seamless communication with OEM GPS-based predictive cruise control system

- Analyzes technical data and clearly communicates results to project managers and/or customers through technical reports, briefings, or other medium

- Prepares sketches, diagrams and specifications for new designs or changes in existing equipment

Qualifications

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering,



Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering. Minimum 5+ years of Automotive Controls/Firmware experience preferably in the area of Heavy-Duty Common Rail Diesel engines and related electronics and controls

- Experience developing embedded software in C and relevant Automotive controls experience are assets

- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented

Desired Qualifications:

- Electronic control systems Firmware/Controls design experience

- Experience with Freescale/NXP automotive microcontrollers, S32DS development environment, and with TPU/eTPU/eTPU2

- Experience with FreeRTOS or similar real time operating systems, PowerPC or ARM Cortex-M processors, embedded C for safety critical systems

- Experience with CAN/SAE J1939 communications protocol

- Understanding of Internal Combustion and modern HD Diesel engines and common rail systems

- Previous experience (or strong interest) in alternative fuels and clean energy

This position is full time, Monday - Friday with weekends occasionally required. Salary will be commensurate with skill set and experience.
