Overview

Castle Mountain Resort is currently looking for applicants to fill senior level positions for the 2026-2027 winter season. We're a community resort with a big mountain feel and our Ski Patrol provides an unmatched opportunity to train and prepare for future careers in the avalanche industry. Responsibilities

- Providing on-hill rescue and first aid
- Acting as a Team Member and/or Team Lead during avalanche control
- Acting as a Team Member and/or Team Lead during lift evacuations
- Acting as a Team Member and/or Team Lead during avalanche rescue
- Active participant within forecast team, dependent on experience and certifications
- Collecting weather, avalanche and snowpack observations
- Identifying and mitigating hazards on hill
- Installing and maintaining signage and rope lines
- Providing mentorship, especially to P2 and P3 patrollers
- Implementing formal and informal training sessions for the patrol team
- Active participant within the forecast team, with regular days as forecast team lead
- Performing trail maintenance, as required
- Other duties, as required

Qualifications

- An advanced level first aid ticket (70+ hours; Industry, Pre-hospital, or Wilderness).



PEAK NUEC 3 is preferred.
- A valid CPR-HCP level
- CAA Avalanche Operations Level 2
- Alberta Blasting Ticket, or eligible for one
- CAA Avalanche Practitioner or Avalanche Professional Membership
- Robust skiing ability and capable of skiing up steep slopes in icy conditions
- Physically fit and able to ski with heavy loads (15+ kgs)
- Comfortable working in challenging weather and big mountain conditions
- Strong team member able to take direction
- Trustworthy and capable of working unsupervised
- Professional, with a high value on customer service
- CAA Avalanche Control Blasting is considered an asset
- Recreational mountain pursuits, such as rock climbing, and ski touring, are considered assets
- Rope handling skills are considered an asset

Pro Pricing is available, but all successful candidates will be expected to provide their own:

- Shovel, probe, and 3-antenna digital beacon
- Lightweight harness (or webbing), locking carabiner, and 30m 7mm rap cord
- Snow study kit
- Skis, poles, boots
- Helmet and goggles
- Alpine touring or telemark gear, is an asset, but not required

Castle Mountain Resort’s Mountain Safety Department provides:

- Helly Hansen patrol jackets
- Helly Hansen patrol pants
- Backpacks

Work Location:





Castle Mountain Resort, end of Highway 774, MD of Pincher Creek Alberta. This is a remote location. Staff accommodation is available for full-time, seasonal employees.

Period of Employment:

Start date is mid-November 2026 with an end date in early April 2027. Please note this is a full-time, seasonal position. Successful applicants will be contacted for an interview in mid-August.

- Outdoor work in extreme weather conditions
