**Job Title: Millwright / Heavy Equipment Technician** **Job Description**
This role is ideal for a skilled, ticketed Millwright or Heavy Equipment Technician with strong rotating equipment experience, especially with gearboxes and pumps.

You will take ownership of a growing area of the business, working on a wide range of equipment from small gearboxes to units up to 500 HP (approximately 2,000 lbs).

The position combines detailed shop rebuilds with scheduled field service, and suits someone who is methodical, quality‑driven, and comfortable working independently in both shop and field environments.

**Responsibilities**

+ Inspect, diagnose, and repair rotating equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, motors, and hydraulic cylinders.
+ Perform complete gearbox repairs, including disassembly, inspection, parts replacement, reassembly, and testing.
+ Carry out component repair and rebuild work on mechanical and hydraulic systems to restore equipment to optimal operating condition.
+ Diagnose hydraulic system issues, identify root causes, and implement effective repair solutions.
+ Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to guide repair and rebuild work.
+ Execute both shop-based rebuilds and scheduled field service work, maintaining a high standard of quality in all environments.
+ Handle and work on equipment ranging from small gearboxes to larger units up to 500 HP (approximately 2,000 lbs), using appropriate tools and safe lifting practices.
+ Document work performed, including parts used, measurements, and test results, to ensure accurate records and traceability.
+ Collaborate with other technicians and support staff to coordinate jobs, share technical knowledge, and ensure timely completion of projects.
+ Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in both shop and field settings, following all safety procedures and best practices.
+ Take ownership of assigned projects, managing time and priorities effectively to meet deadlines and customer expectations.
+ Provide occasional on-site service at customer locations, representing the company professionally and delivering high-quality service.

**Essential Skills**

+ Ticketed Millwright or Heavy Equipment Technician certification, or other relevant ticket with robust rotating equipment experience.
+ Hands-on experience with rotating equipment, including gearboxes, pumps, motors, and hydraulic cylinders.
+ Proficiency in gearbox repair, including disassembly, inspection, component replacement, and reassembly.
+ Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial mechanical systems.
+ Experience in hydraulic system diagnosis, including troubleshooting, fault finding, and repair.
+ Ability to perform component repair and rebuilds on mechanical and hydraulic systems.
+ Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
+ Comfort working independently in both shop and field environments, with a focus on quality and detail.
+ Experience in industrial environments, such as hydraulic shops or similar service and repair operations.

**Additional Skills & Qualifications**

+ Experience with competitors or similar organizations such as Norcan, Applied (AIT), Motion,



or any hydraulic shop is considered an asset.
+ Machining experience is an asset, including the ability to perform basic machining tasks to support repair and rebuild work.
+ Fabrication experience is an asset, including cutting, fitting, and assembling metal components as needed for repairs or modifications.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and hydraulic issues.
+ Attention to detail and a methodical approach to inspection, repair, and testing.
+ Effective communication skills to document work and collaborate with team members and customers.
+ Commitment to safety and adherence to safe work practices in both shop and field settings.

**Work Workplace**
This role offers a mix of shop and field work, with approximately 80% of your time spent in the shop and 20% in the field.

You will primarily support local field and shop work, with occasional travel to locations such as Grande Prairie as required.

The standard schedule runs Monday to Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., providing predictable daytime hours.

You will work in an industrial environment handling rotating equipment, gearboxes, pumps, motors, and hydraulic components, using appropriate tools, lifting equipment, and safety procedures.

The setting combines hands-on mechanical work, diagnostic tasks, and rebuild activities in a professional, safety-conscious facility.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Permanent position based out of Calgary, AB.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $83200.00 - $104000.00/yr.

**Workplace Type**
This is a fully onsite position in Calgary,AB.
