Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Machine Builder/Toolmaker to join our client’s automotive manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling, setting up, adjusting, and modifying robotic welding systems, machinery, tooling, and related components to precise specifications. This role requires a robust mechanical background, hands-on experience with machining equipment, and the ability to troubleshoot complex tooling and equipment issues both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of progressive automotive manufacturing experience, a robust understanding of GD&T;, and a proven ability to produce accurate, high-quality work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Primary Responsibilities

- Assemble robotic welding systems, machinery, machine sub-assemblies, weld tooling, fixtures, components, and pneumatic lines.
- Set up parts and tooling for robotic MIG and laser welding systems using attribute gauges and other precision measurement equipment.
- Adjust, alter, fit, and align machine and tooling components to meet required tolerances and specifications.
- Use mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other machining equipment to manufacture or modify machine components as required.
- Complete complex machine builds, tooling set-ups, and precision adjustments independently.
- Work collaboratively with electricians and other trades to identify and resolve issues during machine and tooling builds.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, tooling, fitment, and alignment issues during machine and tooling builds.
- Review mechanical designs using SOLIDWORKS eDrawings or other available design-viewing software.
- Communicate with the Plant Manager and mechanical design team regarding design questions, tooling changes, and build issues.




- Maintain accurate records of tooling adjustments, modifications, and ongoing work.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized, and orderly work area.

Requirements

- Previous experience building, assembling, setting up, or modifying automated machinery, robotic welding systems, weld tooling, and machine components.
- Experience operating mills, lathes, surface grinders, and other machining equipment to produce or modify components to close tolerances.
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T;), precision measurement, and tooling alignment.
- Experience working with robotic MIG or laser welding tooling systems and attribute gauges.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical and tooling issues independently while working effectively with electricians, designers, and other trades.
- Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work safely, maintain an orderly work area, and communicate effectively with personnel throughout a manufacturing facility.
- Experience with progressive or transfer dies and automotive stamped components is considered an asset.
- Experience using FARO or ROMER precision measurement systems is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with SOLIDWORKS eDrawings or similar design-viewing software is considered an asset.
- Understanding of how heat-affected zones influence welded components is considered an asset.

Pay: $31.96 per hour

Experience:
