About the Role

Peterborough Youth Services is seeking a Community Support Worker to provide community-based support to youth involved with the justice system. Working with Probation Officers, families, schools, and community partners, this role supports youth in building skills, meeting probation goals, accessing resources, and achieving positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

· Deliver individualized, community-based interventions that support rehabilitation, reintegration, and reduced reoffending.

· Assess youth strengths, needs, risks, and goals, and help develop service plans in collaboration with youth, caregivers, Probation Officers, and partners.

· Support youth with social, life, education, employment, housing, and self-management skills.

· Coordinate services, participate in case conferences, and connect youth and families with appropriate community resources.

· Complete required assessments, progress notes, reports, and client documentation.

· Provide services using trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-oppressive, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices.

Qualifications

· Degree or diploma in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Criminology, Human Services, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.





· Minimum three years’ experience working with youth in conflict with the law or youth with complex behavioural, mental health, or justice-related needs.

· Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, youth justice practices, adolescent development, trauma-informed care, and community resources.

· Strong counselling, engagement, assessment, case management, crisis intervention, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.

· Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Required Certifications and Conditions

· Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

· Current First Aid and CPR certification.

· Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST), or willingness to obtain.

· Satisfactory Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.

· Ability to travel throughout the service area and provide flexible service hours, including occasional evenings.
