FLCA is seeking a passionate and dedicated Full-Time Grade 5 Teacher to join our growing team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to guide students during an important stage of their academic and personal development while delivering engaging instruction across the Alberta curriculum.
We are looking for an educator who fosters curiosity, independence, collaboration, and critical thinking through meaningful learning experiences. The successful candidate will create an engaging classroom where students are challenged to become confident learners, responsible citizens, and future leaders while making authentic connections between classroom learning and the world around them.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, inquiry-based instruction across the Grade 5 Alberta curriculum.
- Integrate Entrepreneurship and Global Studies concepts into daily learning experiences where appropriate.
- Foster critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Create a protected, positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment that promotes student success and belonging.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of diverse learners.
- Assess, evaluate, and report student learning using a variety of formative and summative assessment practices.
- Encourage student leadership, responsibility, and independence while supporting the development of strong character and growth mindset.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary learning opportunities and contribute to school-wide initiatives.
- Effectively integrate technology to enhance student engagement, digital citizenship, and learning outcomes.
- Build strong partnerships with students, parents/guardians, and school administration through open and ongoing communication.
Are You Our Next Grade 5 Teacher? Here's What We're Looking For:
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Authority to Teach in Alberta.
- A recent (within the past three months)
Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.
- First Aid/CPR certification is considered an asset.
- Bachelor's Degree in Education.
- Previous upper elementary teaching experience (Grade 5 preferred) is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of the Alberta curriculum and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and create engaging, student-centred learning environments.
- Commitment to collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional growth.
