About the Role:
Join our dynamic team as a Porter/Packer and play a key role in our catering operations. This position is responsible for supporting pre-event logistics by ensuring all equipment, supplies, and event packs are accurately prepared, organized, and dispatched. Your attention to detail and commitment to organization will help ensure every event is fully equipped for success.
Responsibilities
Event Packing & Logistics
- Pack all event dry packs according to pack lists provided by the Coordination Team, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all equipment listed on event pack lists is pulled, packed, and ready for service.
- Verify that all required equipment is sent to each event and returned upon completion.
- Unpack, clean, inspect, and restock event packs following their return.
- Support the delivery and pickup of event packs from museum locations as required.
Equipment Management
- Perform routine inspections to ensure equipment is clean, functional, and event-ready.
- Tag, isolate, and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Staffing Coordinator.
- Ensure fragile and high-value equipment (including glassware, chafing dishes, and induction burners) is stored safely and according to established procedures.
- Communicate equipment maintenance and repair needs to the appropriate team members.
Inventory Management
- Monitor and maintain par levels for consumables and disposables.
- Notify the Equipment Manager when inventory levels are low and replenishment is required.
Pack Room Organization & Safety
- Maintain the daily organization and cleanliness of the pack room, hallways, and storage areas (including Narnia).
- Maintain a protected work environment by keeping pathways explicit and following all slip, trip, and fall prevention protocols.
- Contribute to an organized, efficient workspace that supports timely event preparation.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work independently while effectively managing multiple priorities.
- Valid G driver's licence with a clean driving record.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Comfortable following established procedures, pack lists, and inventory systems with accuracy.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving equipment (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, and performing repetitive tasks
- Ensure all equipment listed on event pack lists is pulled, packed, and ready for service.
