Overview
Root River Logging is seeking skilled and dedicated Processor Operators to join our team. Although the starting wage is indicated at $32.50 per hour, the intent is that the starting wage is to be negotiated with the owner. This is a field based position and camp stay and overtime hours may be required. The ideal candidate will possess experience in the safe, effective, and productive operation of a Processor, with primary job duties focused on operating a processor to process felled trees at roadside. This typically involves stripping limbs, cutting logs to specified lengths, and piling them for loading. This role is essential for maintaining forestry harvesting and processing workflow. The Processing Operator will work closely with various tools, equipment, and other equipment operators, and will contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of our forestry operations.
Duties
- Operate Logging Processor and heavy equipment safely and efficiently during logging operations.
- Operate Logging Processor to process trees (delimbing/stripping, cutting to specified lengths, and piling for loading) at logging sites.
- Perform routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal and safe performance.
- Responsible for fueling the Logging Processor.
- Collaborate with other Root River Logging equipment operators to execute project plans effectively and safely.
- Maintain basic yet accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance,
and project progress.
- Follow safety protocols at all times to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements
- Experience in the operation of a Logging Processor an asset, but willing to train.
- Familiarity with forest harvesting and logging practices is preferred.
- Ability to maintain and fuel equipment and perform minor repairs as needed.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team.
- Basic documentation skills to maintain records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Must be able to work in a camp environment with flexibility in shift work.
- Willingness to travel and work in an outdoor workplace in remote locations.
- Able to work cooperatively in a team, but also independently with little supervision.
- Physically fit to endure the rigors of full-time fieldwork in all conditions.
- Safe work mindset is required.
