Line Cook — Seasonal (Banff)

Hankki · Banff, Alberta · Seasonal, Full-Time

You’re about to begin a journey where ordinary people achieve extraordinary results.

At Hankki, work is more than a job — it’s a chance to grow as a person. You’ll gain practical skills, develop confidence, and build lasting friendships through teamwork and ongoing training at Hankki. Every guest interaction is an opportunity to make someone’s day, because Hankki is more than a meal — it’s an experience.

We’re a growing QSR brand with 14 locations across Alberta, including a food truck, with multiple new store openings planned in Calgary and Edmonton over the coming months. As we continue our journey toward 20+ locations, we’re looking for passionate people who want to grow with us.

The Role at a Glance

Location: Hankki Banff (seasonal)

Employment type: Seasonal, full-time — for the Banff peak season (approximately May to September)

Off-season: Solid performers may be offered continued employment and relocated to one of our Calgary locations once the Banff season ends — so this can be a season-long role or the start of a longer Hankki career.

Accommodation: Staff accommodation support is available for Banff team members (see Rewards & Benefits).

Your Role as a Cook

As a Cook, you’re at the heart of the kitchen. You’ll prepare Hankki’s signature dishes to our high standards, keep the kitchen running smoothly through every rush, and work shoulder-to-shoulder with the team to make each guest’s visit memorable. You’ll live our H.A.N.K.K.i values — Help Each Other, Act With Heart, Nurture the Team, Keep the Promise, Kindness Matters, Include Everyone.

What You’ll Do

Operational Excellence

- Prepare food according to Hankki’s standards for quality, presentation, and portioning.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen equipment, prep areas, and storage spaces.
- Follow all food safety protocols and health regulations (AHS, OHS, etc.).
- Assist with inventory checks, food rotation, and minimizing food waste.
- Execute opening, mid-day, and closing procedures accurately and efficiently.
- Monitor kitchen workflow and report operational issues to the Cook Lead and Management.

Teamwork & Service

- Work cooperatively with kitchen and front-of-house teammates to ensure timely, high-quality service.
- Support the prep team and line staff with real-time needs during busy shifts.

- Communicate clearly and respectfully with front-of-house staff for order coordination.

Quality & Cost Control

- Ensure all dishes meet quality and consistency standards before service.
- Handle special preparation requests to accommodate guest needs.
- Use portion control and prep guidelines to minimize waste and control food costs.
- Follow daily prep plans and par levels, and report low stock proactively.

What We’re Looking For

- At least a year of experience in a kitchen, quick-service, or hospitality environment.
- Familiarity with basic food preparation and cooking methods.
- Understanding of food safety principles (AHS, HACCP, OHS or equivalent) is an asset.
- Strong work ethic and ability to multitask in a fast-paced kitchen.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs., and perform cleaning duties.
- Bilingual in English and Korean is considered an asset.
- Availability to work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to live in or relocate to the Banff area for the season, and open to relocating to a Calgary location afterward.
