Job Title: Director of Event Technology and Operations

Location - Ottawa

Position Summary

National Audio Visual is seeking an experienced and service-driven individual to lead the planning, delivery, and execution of all event technology services throughout our hotel. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring exceptional audiovisual (AV), production, and technology experiences for meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events while driving operational excellence, revenue growth, and guest satisfaction.

The ideal candidate is an innovative leader with strong technical expertise, outstanding customer service skills, and experience managing teams in a luxury hotel or event venue.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead all event technology operations, including audiovisual, lighting, staging, video, live streaming, hybrid meetings, and event production.
- Manage the Event Technology team by recruiting, training, scheduling, coaching, and evaluating team members.
- Partner with Sales, Catering, Conference Services, and Banquets to ensure flawless execution of client events.
- Consult with clients to understand technical requirements and recommend appropriate event technology solutions.
- Develop event technology proposals and pricing while maximizing revenue opportunities through upselling.
- Oversee installation, operation, troubleshooting, and teardown of audiovisual equipment.
- Ensure equipment is maintained, inventoried, and operating at peak performance.
- Manage departmental budgets, purchasing, vendor relationships, and capital equipment planning.
- Maintain compliance with safety standards and hotel operating procedures.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and quickly resolve any service or technical issues.




- Stay current on emerging event technologies and recommend enhancements to improve the guest experience.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience managing event technology or audiovisual operations, preferably within a hotel or convention environment.
- Demonstrated leadership experience supervising technical and operational teams.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Audio systems
- Video production
- Lighting systems
- Digital signage
- Live streaming and hybrid meeting platforms
- Networking fundamentals
- Experience with event management and audiovisual technologies.
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
- Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 lbs (23 kg).

- Bilingual preferred (English/French)
- Experience with large-scale conferences and luxury hotel operations.
