JOB SUMMARY

This position serves the Waterloo Regional Police Association (WRPA).

We are looking for a skilled Maintenance Worker to perform upkeep tasks such as repairs and janitorial. You will be responsible for applying basic maintenance and repairs to the Rec Centre’s interior & exterior facilities, while ensuring the facility is tidy and functional. This person also performs grounds maintenance and general upkeep.

Being reliable with a keen eye for detail is the first step to a potential candidate. You must have experience with tools and must be a quick learner. You must also possess manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Our facility has a banquet hall, boardroom, restaurant, washrooms, and a kitchen. We have a large swimming pool, changing rooms, indoor & outdoor washroom facilities, and several acres of land. Although not all the land requires attention, a large area does. Our members and guests enjoy the use of a baseball diamond, pool, volleyball area, horseshoe pits, basketball, tennis, and a large outdoor BBQ & picnic area.

You will work as a team with other maintenance staff to keep our facility maintained and ready for events and guests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform janitorial duties such as dusting, mopping, washrooms, etc.
- Perform minor fixes inside the building and outdoors.
- Performs routine maintenance and repairs on all Rec Centre buildings & equipment.




- Perform daily check/testing of pool and drinking water system.
- Able to open & winterize water system.
- Cutting the grass, weed whacking, tree trimming, and gardening will be required.
- Setting up and taking down tables & chairs for banquet & outdoor events.
- Perform minor fixes such as repairs, painting, filling holes in walls, etc.
- Gardening & yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc.
- Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment and systems (e.g., fridges, sinks, toilets, etc.)
- Report to the facilities manager with issues or concerns.
- Snow removal during winter months.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS

- Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Must have experience using hand and electrical tools is a must.
- Must have experience using a tractor, lawn mower, snowblower, chain saw, leaf blower, etc.
- The ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
- Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Work well with others.
- Physical stamina and dexterity are required.
- High school diploma
- Valid driver’s license and your own transportation

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Education:

- Secondary School (preferred)

Experience:

- Maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
