Roles & Responsibilities:

- Operate self-propelled, steel-drum rubber-tired, combination, vibrator, segmented or other type of roller to compact asphalt surfaces.
- Distribute, break down, compress, and give a finished surface to cooling asphalt.
- Knowledge of rolling patterns and applications to achieve compaction and smoothness.
- Determine speed and direction of machine based on knowledge of compressibility of material under changing temperatures.
- Ability to compact asphalt to proper depths and smoothness.
- Ability to identify deficiencies in the asphalt mat behind the paving crew and notify the foreman.
- May also be required to compact earth fills, sub grades and flexible base.
- Willingness to assist crew in all other paving activities.
- Knowledge of proper machine startup shut down and maintenance.
- Able to comprehend new information and techniques quickly.
- Hard working, physically fit and able to lift 50lbs or more.
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.

Experience & Requirements:

- Experience in heavy construction considered an asset.




- Asphalting experience necessary.
- Asphalt roller experience (minimum 2 years).
- Must be able to work in fast-paced, physically demanding and changing environment.
- Must have experience on commercial and highway projects. Indicate type of roller you
have experience with (Double Drum, Combination Roller, Pneumatic Tire Roller) on
application.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required.
- Working extended hours including evenings and weekends is required.
- Physically capable of working in warm conditions for prolonged periods.
- Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
