At TREY, Support Workers don't simply supervise a house; they help create a home. They become part of the consistency, compassion, and stability that allows survivors of sexual exploitation and human trafficking to begin rebuilding lives that have been shaped by trauma.

As a Support Worker with TREY Trauma Recovery for Exploited Youth, you will play an integral role in supporting survivors of exploitation within our In-House Recovery Program. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will help create a protected, supportive, and empowering environment where survivors can focus on healing, developing life skills, and working toward their personal goals.

Support Workers build meaningful, professional relationships grounded in trust, consistency, and trauma-informed care. Through day-to-day interactions, you will encourage independence, promote personal growth, and help survivors navigate the challenges and successes that accompany long-term recovery.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to survivors while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Foster a physically and emotionally safe environment that promotes healing, dignity, and respect.
- Build trusting, consistent relationships that support survivors' recovery and individualized goals.
- Assist survivors with daily living activities, routines, and the development of independent living skills.
- Support survivors in attending appointments, community activities, programming, and other scheduled commitments as required.
- Encourage healthy coping strategies, emotional regulation,



and positive decision-making.
- Maintain accurate, objective, and timely documentation, including shift notes, incident reports, and survivor updates.
- Communicate effectively with team members to ensure continuity of care and consistent support for survivors.
- Participate in team meetings, case discussions, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to crisis situations while following TREY's policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
- Assist with meal preparation, light housekeeping, transportation, and maintaining a welcoming, home-like environment.
- Respect survivor confidentiality and uphold all organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable legislation.
- Perform other duties consistent with the role as assigned.

They demonstrate sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism,



and a commitment to providing person-centred, survivor-informed care while working collaboratively as part of a supportive team.

Qualifications

- Social Service Worker diploma (completed or in progress) or related field preferred
- Experience working with vulnerable populations considered an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain emotionally regulated in high-stress situations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- First Aid & CPR training

Requirements

- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check
- Nova Scotia Child Abuse Registry Check
- Valid driver’s license considered an asset

Because trust develops over time, continuity within our team is incredibly important to the individuals we support.
