Rescue Technician Flexible field-based rescue work across Canada

Irwin's Safety has grown from Williams Lake, BC in 2009 to more than 20 offices across Canada. We provide full-cycle Health, Safety & Environment, Risk Management, and Industrial Labour solutions to clients in mining, energy, construction, manufacturing, transportation, and First Nations communities. Our Technical Rescue division is actively building regional capacity — and that's where you come in.

We are currently recruiting Rescue Technicians on a casual, project-based basis for confined space rescue, high angle / rope rescue standby, and emergency response coverage across our office regions.

Qualifications

- Valid Confined Space Rescue ticket — trained to a minimum of NFPA 1006
- High Angle / Rope Rescue, Operations level (certification in both confined space and rope rescue preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of rescue experience (5 years preferred)
- Valid OFA1 / SFA certificate required
- Experience in industrial safety roles, particularly confined space environments
- Experience operating gas detectors (Industrial Scientific preferred)
- Valid Class 5 driver's license and clean driving record
- Basic computer skills




- IRATA rope access certification an asset
- Valid Confined Space Attendant ticket preferred (training can be provided)
- NCSO designation considered an asset
- Ability to pass client-site orientations, including drug & alcohol testing and security clearances

Responsibilities

- Provide in office confined space and high angle / rope rescue standby coverage for client projects under direction of the Irwin's Technical Rescue team
- Develop, review, and execute site-specific rescue plans for confined space and elevated work
- Perform emergency evacuation and rescue of personnel from confined spaces, elevated structures, and other hazardous environments
- Deliver first aid and patient packaging as required during rescue operations
- Inspect, test, and perform preventative maintenance on all rescue equipment to NFPA standards
- Assist Service Leads in identifying hazards and recommending control measures using the hierarchy of controls
- Participate in pre-job hazard assessments, JHA reviews, and pre-entry briefings
- Support site safety meetings, toolbox talks, and shared vigilance with the worker group
- Report findings, observations, and trends to the Irwin's H&S; team and assigned Service Lead
