Summary of Duties:
The Education Assistant will follow the daily schedule of the class they are assisting. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to morning, recess, lunch supervision; math and reading programs; and other classroom duties.
Key Deliverables and Expectations:
- To provide student assistance in and out of class under the direction of the Elementary Vice Principal.
- Working with other professionals.
- Ensuring a reporting format is established and maintained.
- Keep a daily journal.
- Ability to follow instruction as outlined in student improvement plan.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
Experience and Attributes:
- Must have Grade 12, ECE or other related certificates, diploma an asset.
- 2+ years of experience working with kids.
- Experience working with special needs children/youth an asset.
- Some knowledge of child development.
- Some understanding of behaviour problems would be an asset.
- B.C. Standard First Aid Certificate for working with young children (recommended but not mandatory).
- Able to foster professional relationships between teacher and parents to support students’ best interest and to work.
- Knowledge of Lil’wat culture an asset.
- Must be able to provide a transparent criminal record check, including the vulnerable sector.
