The ECFNEA’s facilities include the Bernard Constant Community School located on
James Smith Cree Nation (JSCN) and a sub-office in Nipawin, Saskatchewan.

The School
The Bernard Constant Community School is a dynamic Pre-K-Grade 12 school serving
approximately 440 students. The school is supported by a professional staff of more
than 30 teachers and a full complement of support staff. The focus of the Bernard
Constant Community School is Trauma-sensitive Programming, with a full complement
of a Wellness Team, a comprehensive Cree Language Program for all grades and
divisions, along with a Land-based Learning Program, a Cultural Program, a Sports
Academy Program, and a Treaty Essential Learning Program.
There are currently no accommodations available within the community. School staff
travel into the community from local towns and cities such as Melfort and Prince Albert,
Saskatchewan.
Position Title – Accounts Payable Clerk Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Clerk are as follows:
- completing payments and controlling expenses by receiving, processing, verifying
and reconciling invoices;
- completing Payroll on a bi-weekly basis;
- ensuring outstanding balances are updated with credit memos that are due;
- entering journal entries from deposits, wire transfers or other electronic deposits;
- maintaining historical records of all invoices, reports, receipts, and cheques by filing
documents properly;
- paying employees by receiving and verifying expense reports using Sage Accpac
Accounting Software;
- reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to
balance; and
- verifying vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related
transactions.
Position Qualifications
The successful applicant should have a Diploma in Accounting preferred or a Business
Administration Certificate and a minimum of two or three years of experience.
Required Skills and Abilities and Skills
The successful candidate must possess:
- ability to use company-level financial record-keeping software systems,
spreadsheets and email applications;
- ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- ability to complete a high volume of work within deadlines;
- excellent organizational and time management skills;
- excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
- good problem-solving skills;
- exceptional knowledge of basic accounting concepts; and
- robust attention to detail.
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Sector Check is mandatory. A
valid Driver’s license is required. A Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate and
a First Aid Certificate would be an asset.
This position will be supervised by the Finance Manager.
Preference will be given to existing employees and to members of the First Nations
participating in the East Central First Nation Education Authority.
Salary and Benefits
Salary/Wages commensurate with credentials and experience.
