Job Summary & Key Responsibilities
The part time academic will be responsible for teaching: HPRO 4412- Human Sexuality. The course will be offered in the fall term, from September 1-December 30, 2026.
This is an in-person course that involves lecture, experiential activities, discussion format .
This course will introduce students to the broad domain of human sexuality. The course will examine how social and cultural forces influence beliefs, values and practices related to human sexuality. Four themes are threaded throughout the course: diversity in gender and sex, behaviours and customs, critical thinking, and sexual health. The course is designed to support positive integration of sexuality into people’s lives and foster healthy sexuality throughout the life-course.
The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the course, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments. The course will be taught using Brightspace (LMS- learning management system) and in-person on the Halifax Campus for the fall term. In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparation in advance of the term. The part-time academic may consider offering one to two office hours outside of class time per week.
Qualifications/Requirements of Position
- Graduate degree in Kinesiology, Health Promotion or Recreation and Leisure Studies with demonstrated teaching ability preferred.
Salary Range/Pay Rate
Per CUPE Collective Agreement
