TekStaff's Client has a current vacancy for " AI Governance Specialist”

This is a 12 month contract located in Toronto (Hybrid- 2 days per week in the office minimum).

Purpose The AI Governance Specialist supports the implementation of AI governance practices across the organization by helping maintain AI model records, documentation, and evidence required under the Enterprise AI Policy, Responsible AI principles, and applicable regulatory expectations. This role works closely with technical teams, business owners, and governance stakeholders to support transparency, accountability, and responsible use of AI throughout the AI lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

- Model Governance & Compliance: Lead governance activities for Copilot agents, including conducting Data Impact Assessments, registering agents in the enterprise AI registry, maintaining Model Cards, TEVV evidence, and ensuring Responsible AI requirements—such as lawful basis, data minimization, fairness/bias testing, explainability, and security controls—are fulfilled.
- Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments for Copilot agents using the Enterprise AI Risk Framework; classify agents by risk tier, escalate high-risk cases as appropriate, register identified risks in the AI risk registry, and follow up with teams to support remediation of outstanding risks.
- Lifecycle Oversight: Monitor agent performance, model drift, and ongoing compliance with TEVV standards; support periodic reviews, decommissioning activities, and archival processes as required.
- Data Stewardship: Validate data lineage, metadata, and quality for AI training datasets; collaborate with Business Data Stewards to enforce data governance policies.




- Policy & Standards Enablement: Act as a subject matter expert for AI governance in project reviews; provide guidance on Enterprise AI Policy and Data Impact Assessment (DIA) processes.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Management, Business, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 2-4 years of experience in AI/ML, data governance, risk management, compliance, audit, technology controls, or a related area.
- Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts, model lifecycle activities, or data governance principles.
- Awareness of AI governance frameworks such as NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 23894, ISO/IEC 42001, or emerging AI regulations is an asset.
- Exposure to data cataloging, documentation tools, model inventory processes, or AI platforms is an asset.
- Interest in privacy, security, risk, and regulatory compliance as they relate to AI and data-driven solutions.

Skills

- Transparent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize technical or governance information for different audiences.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and willingness to learn AI governance, risk, and compliance practices.
- Basic familiarity with technology controls, documentation practices, audit evidence, or secure system integration concepts is an asset.

Performance Metrics

- Accuracy and completeness of AI model registry entries and supporting documentation.
- Timely completion of assigned risk assessment support tasks, documentation updates, and follow-up activities.
- Quality of coordination with technical teams, business owners, and governance stakeholders

This role operates under a hybrid work model and requires employees to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
