About the position:

The Fort Erie SPCA is looking for a compassionate, dependable and hardworking animal care attendant to join our team. This is a hands-on position working directly with the animals in our care. The successful candidate will help ensure our animals receive a high standard of daily care while maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable setting. This position also includes assisting our veterinary team with basic animal handling and surgery preparation.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

- Feeding and providing fresh water and food to animals according to their individual needs and schedules
- Cleaning and disinfecting kennels, cages, animal housing areas, dishes, bedding, and equipment
- Monitoring animals for changes in behaviour, appetite, health, or overall condition and reporting concerns to the appropriate staff
- Assisting with basic animal care and treatments
- Assisting with surgery preparation,



including preparing supplies and treatment areas as directed by the veterinary team
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout animal care and veterinary areas
- Providing compassionate and humane care to shelter animals
- Following shelter protocols, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and animal-handling guidelines
- Assisting other team members as needed with the daily operation of the shelter and clinic
- During recovery you will need to do ear cleaning, nail trimming, temperature checks, incision cleaning and patient monitoring up to 15 pets in a day.

**On Surgery day you can work up to 12 hour shifts, occasional weekdays, afternoons, weekends and holidays. 18 - 30 Hours. Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $19.00-$21.00 per hour

Experience

- Animal care: 1 year (preferred)
