Position Title: Arborist Climber

Number of Positions: 2

Pay Rate: $36.60/hr - $38.00/hr based on experience

Job type: Full time, permanent, 40 hours per week

Job Location: 6973 Doumont Road, Nanaimo, BC V9T 5P9. May be required to travel outside of Nanaimo as part of the role.

Responsibilities

Perform all required ground, climbing, and aerial lift duties in support of specific job assignments, as directed by crew leader

Demonstrate high safety standards,



sound tree risk assessment skills, equipment inspection skills, proper application of approved knots, proper climbing techniques and procedures, proper pruning and small removal skills, and proper rigging skills

Assist with driving, backing, dumping and parking duties as required

Learn, understand, and adhere to all safety rules and company safety policies and participate in safety training sessions

Maintain assigned company gear and equipment

Demonstrate strong communication skills with crew members and crew leader

Responsible for carrying out other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader or designated supervisor, Arborist Representative, or Local Manager

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of experience climbing with arborist approved climbing system and bucket operation in the tree care industry.

Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record (MVR).

Secondary school required

Formal training or qualifications in chainsaw maintenance and cutting, aerial cutting using chainsaw and felling and processing trees required

Degree or Diploma in Arboriculture, Forestry, Horticulture, Plant Science, Landscape Management, Environmental Science or a related field is preferred but not required.

Proficient in English language
