Reporting to the Head Athletic Therapist, this role involves delivering clinical and field athletic therapy services to varsity student athletes. Additionally, this position will offer clinical supervision and leadership to athletic therapy students, facilitating their contribution to the provision of high-quality athletic therapy care to varsity athletes. The responsibilities of this position are split between field, clinical and administrative duties.
The role entails significant stress as the first responder in injury situations and necessitates availability on weekends and evenings for field and event coverage, often during inclement weather conditions. Occasional overnight or longer duration travel with varsity teams may be required. The position requires and undergraduate degree in relevant discipline (e.g. athletic therapy) and at least 2 years’ experience including: Be a Certified Athletic Therapist in good standing with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association be able to practice in the Province of British Columbia.
Valid First Responder certification.
Maintain professional malpractice insurance.
Must have a valid British Columbia driver’s license.
Competencies Include Valuable organizational and time management skills are required in order to plan and establish work priorities.
Good communication skills.
Good working skills with computer software including MS Word, Excel, and able to be oriented to EMR software.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to make sound independent judgements and utilize problem-solving skills.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with all levels of students, coaches, staff and other clients.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
The Following Experience Will Be Given
Preference Working in a post-secondary environment.
Masters in concussion-related field.
The Following Education Will Be An
Asset Postgraduate education in concussion and professional development in a variety of neuro-musculo-skeletal therapeutic techniques.
