What You'll Do
As a Backhoe Operator, you'll play a key role in the success of our underground utility projects by:
- Safely operating a backhoe on a variety of construction sites
- Excavating around underground utilities with precision and care
- Performing daily equipment inspections and maintenance checks
- Identifying and reporting maintenance or repair requirements
- Assisting with routine equipment maintenance
- Following all company and workplace safety procedures
- Working closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects safely and efficiently
- Maintaining a clean and organized work area
- Performing other related duties as required
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who is dependable, safety-focused, and takes pride in producing quality work.
Ideal candidates will have
- Experience operating a backhoe in underground utility construction
- Experience safely excavating around existing utilities
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence (Class 3 with Air Brake endorsement is considered a strong asset)
- Reliable transportation to and from our shop (our location is not serviced by public transit)
- The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to work independently when required
- A strong work ethic and commitment to safety
Working Conditions
- Full time, permanent position
- Minimum 45-hour work week with overtime opportunities available
- Physically demanding work in an outdoor environment
- Occasional lifting of heavy materials
