Job Summary You are responsible for monitoring, controlling, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing all mechanical/electrical systems for the City’s building systems.

Education And Experience Completion of 2 year college diploma in Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning with CFC Certification

Minimum of 5 years of related maintenance and operational experience on building environmental systems and services

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerit points accumulated

Current Ontario Ozone Depletion Prevention (ODP) certificate card

TSSA 4th class Operating/Power Engineer Certificate is an asset

KNOWLEDGE

- First Aid
- Computers (PC based)
- Contemporary building, mechanical and electrical systems
- Plumbing, HVAC systems
- Electronic and pneumatic controls
- Air handling systems
- Welding, brazing and soldering
- Preventative maintenance procedures
- Safety procedures
- Municipal and Provincial Health & Safety and Fire Regulations
- D.D.C. Systems (Honeywell, Johnstons, Andover, Omeran and Landis & Gyr)
- Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers

- Read blueprints (Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, Structural)

- Aptitude for mechanics & D.D.C. controls

What You Need To Know

- Police Record Check: The successful candidate will be required to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3) with the Police Services detachment in their jurisdiction to the City of Ottawa’s satisfaction.
- You may initially be paid 95% of your starting rate of pay, in accordance with the collective agreement.
- Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements.
