We are a small custom carpentry and construction company in Ucluelet, BC, and we care about the finer details of every build. If you're dependable, hard-working and want to learn the trade, this is a real path toward becoming a carpenter with us. Our carpenter scale starts at $37.50/hr, and labourers who prove themselves move onto it.

THE TRUCK REQUIREMENT: READ THIS FIRST

You must own and run a functioning pickup. It runs material and dump loads around town (about a 30 km service radius). Two things come with that:

- Fuel allowance: we reimburse your work driving per kilometre at the CRA rate (2026: 73 cents/km), tracked with a simple log. Paid this way it stays non-taxable, real money in your pocket, covering fuel and wear on your truck.
- Insurance: your ICBC coverage must be rated for business use for this driving, and we'll confirm it together at hire so a claim is never at risk for you.

THREE TIERS: WE PAY FOR SKILL TIER 1: LABOURER, $25.00/HR

Site preparation, demolition support, material handling, site cleanup, and tool care.

TIER 2: SKILLED LABOURER, $27.50/HR

Everything in Tier 1, plus: competent and secure with hand and power tools, basic layout support, competent demolition, and running materials.

TIER 3: EXPERIENCED LABOURER ("ALMOST-CARPENTER"), $30.00/HR

Everything below, plus entry carpentry under supervision: backing, blocking, sheathing, deck boards, basic trim. It's the direct path to Carpenter Tier 1 ($37.50/hr).





RAISES YOU CAN COUNT ON

- Anniversary cost-of-living raise: every year on your hire date your base rate rises by the three-year average of BC inflation, never less than 2% and never more than 5% (about 2.9% right now).
- Christmas bonus: 3% of your gross annual pay in year one, rising 1% each year of service to a 5% cap, paid through payroll.

WHAT YOU BRING
- A functioning pickup truck with business-use ICBC coverage
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence and a cell phone
- Your own basic tools and tool belt
- Dependability, punctuality, and a positive attitude
- The ability to work hard independently or as part of a small, tight crew
- The ability to work outdoors year-round in west coast weather
- First aid and training certifications are always assets

HOUSING: PLEASE READ THIS Rentals are genuinely scarce in Ucluelet, and it will be easier to find a place once you are here in town. A mobile option (van, RV, or 5th wheel) helps at first, and there are off-season campsites that rent with full-service hookups. We will try to be as accommodating as possible while you settle in.
