Job Details The City of St. Albert is recruiting an individual to join our Public Operations department as a Casual Labourer. Under the direction of the respective Team Lead, this position will be responsible for performing manual labour, using straightforward hand and/or power tools, and operating motorized municipal light-duty equipment in a proper and safe manner.

Qualifications

- Completion of grade 10 or equivalent, a high school diploma or GED is an asset.
- Must hold a valid Class 5 driver's license with fewer than six (6) demerit points and provide a current driver's abstract.
- Some related experience performing manual labour tasks and light-duty hand operated equipment is an asset.
- Must be physically capable of performing assigned duties including repeatedly lifting and carrying loads up to 50 pounds throughout an 8-hour shift, shoveling dirt for 20 minutes at a time, and performing repetitive tasks for 1 hour or more.
- Ability to understand and respond to verbal and written instructions.
- Current Basic First Aid certification is an asset.




- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with the public.
- Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.

Hours of Work This position will work Monday to Friday, day shifts with variable hours. Shifts may consist of four 10-hour days, with start times ranging from 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and end times between 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., depending on team assignment.

Compensation The wage ranges from $20.41 - $21.42 per hour based on the collective agreement rates.
