Job Title: Class 1 Truck Driver – Scrap Metal Hauling (Flatbed)

Job Summary

[Company Name] is hiring an experienced Class 1 Truck Driver to haul scrap metal between yards, customer sites, and processing/recycling facilities. This role requires solid flatbed experience and proficiency with chaining and load securement — you'll be handling scrap loads of varying shapes and sizes, so hands-on experience matters. We're looking for someone proactive and hands-on, who takes initiative and pitches in wherever needed rather than waiting to be told.

Responsibilities

- Safely operate a Class 1 flatbed truck to transport scrap metal to and from yards, job sites, and customers
- Chain, strap, and secure scrap loads properly to prevent shifting during transport
- Load and unload material safely, taking initiative to assist with yard work when not on the road
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections; report mechanical issues promptly
- Maintain accurate logs of deliveries, mileage, and hours of service
- Follow all provincial/federal safety regulations, including proper handling and securement of scrap materials




- Communicate with dispatch and yard staff regarding pickups, deliveries, and scheduling
- Keep the truck and equipment clean and well-maintained
- Identify and flag opportunities to improve efficiency, safety, or load handling

Requirements

- Valid Class 1 license
- years of verifiable driving experience
- Proficient with chaining, strapping, and flatbed load securement
- Clean driver's abstract and protected driving history
- Ability to pass a physical and drug/alcohol screening if required
- Comfortable working in an industrial/scrap yard environment
- Self-starter who works well with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs as needed
- Strong time-management and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience hauling scrap metal, construction debris, or similar materials
