Reporting to the Director, Nurse Practitioners, Strategy and Practice with accountabilities to the Vice President, Knowledge, Practice and Chief Nurse Executive, the Clinical Lead provides leadership and mentorship to Nurse Practitioners and integrates both practice and operational responsibilities including practice standards and accountabilities, evolving models of care, clinical practice and education models, and quality care.

Lead operationalizes the Nurse Practitioner (NP) strategic plan, including ongoing role and practice development and operationalizes the integration of clinical information with care environment requirements for practice by working toward collaborative solutions in a complex inter-professional environment.

Lead provides leadership in operationalizing NP practice standards of care consistent with the values of the organization, clinical professional development standards, and representative of patient and family-centered care. This leadership role collaborates with operational leaders within programs with NPs to move initiatives forward,



ensuring a commitment to best practice in all aspects of patient care across the care continuum.

Lead liaises, consults, and collaborates with various internal healthcare professionals to support clinical practice optimization and sustainability of NP roles.

Lead works together in a collaborative leadership model promoting interprofessional practice and a culture of continuous quality improvement. Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of Island Health in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Training And Experience Master's degree in nursing as a Nurse Practitioner, plus 5 years' recent, related clinical leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid BC Driver's License. Current registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a Nurse Practitioner.

Maintains their clinical Nurse Practitioner practice in their area of expertise/interest and must maintain membership as Island Health medical staff.

- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position. The NP Clinical Lead provides clinical leadership and professional practice support for NPs across assigned programs and regions. Reporting to the NP Director, the role is responsible for NP onboarding and orientation, clinical practice development, chart audits and practice reviews, management of scope-of-practice changes, and clinical practice concern consultation. NP Clinical Leads support recruitment, participate in interview panels, coach leaders on NP integration, and facilitate successful practice transitions. They provide mentorship, education, and skills development opportunities for NPs, support student placements, and develop practice resources. The role supports communities of practice, enhances the visibility and integration of NP practice across Island Health, and assists with problem-solving related to clinical care, professional practice, and practice settings. Through coaching, quality oversight, quality improvement and leadership support, NP Clinical Leads help ensure safe, effective, evidence-informed, quality NP practice and contribute to the ongoing growth and sustainability of the NP workforce. This position offers the flexibility to work remotely, with occasional in-person meetings or travel requirements as needed.
