We are looking to hire National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (or comparable certification) to provide strength and conditioning services with Queen’s Athletics Varsity Clubs, Teams and community athletes.
In this position you will design and coach sport performance programs, create and maintain buy-in with athletes and coaches, and ensure the values and protocols of Queen’s Strength and Conditioning are adhered to during program delivery. This position will also be focussed on the growth of the Queen’s Strength and Conditioning club and community strength and conditioning programming.
Successful candidates will be self-motivated, work well in a collaborative workplace, and ensure a high degree of professionalism. This position will report to the Head Coach, Strength and Conditioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head and Assistant strength and conditioning coaches to develop, tailor, and provide effective sports performance programming to all athletes working with Queen’s Strength and Conditioning.
- Conduct team-based athlete assessments to ensure athlete and team progression.
- Coach safe and effective training sessions for all individuals, providing modifications as needed.
- Upkeep of administrative duties while servicing the Queen’s and community athletes (e.g., iWork for casual personal trainers, and Teambuildr)
- Collaborate with the Head Coach, Strength & Conditioning to support growth of the revenue generation streams for Queen’s Strength and Conditioning
- Undertake other duties as required in support of the Department.
Required Qualifications:
- Completed/In Progress National Strength and Conditioning Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist Certification (or comparable certification)
- A valid First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Completed Safe Sport training.
- Satisfactory Criminal Records check (CPIC) with Vulnerable Sector screening.
- Ability to coach with strong communication skills.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Working knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and sport performance training principles.
- Ability to design safe and effective sports performance programs ensuring all A&R; policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Strong knowledge of individual and group training management, well-rounded program design, exercise techniques, safety and spotting, cues, and modifications to meet team and individual needs.
- Effective time management, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
- Experience in fitness revenue generation initiatives.
- Consideration may be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience.
