Job Location: Kapuskasing/Cochrane/Timmins/Moose Factory, Ontario Position Summary: The Co-Planning Committee Coordinator will co-chair all Co-Planning Committee meetings together with the TTN lead. The Coordinator will oversee project feasibility activities and provide traditional and technical support to multidisciplinary teams. Under the direction of the MRBPC, the Coordinator will prepare and facilitate project documentation and, within the scope of the position’s accountability, will ensure that MRBPC governance and cultural best practices are followed.

Because this position spans many technical fields of study, on-the-job training will be provided. The Coordinator will also develop recommendations for capacity needs as the work of the Co-Planning Committee progresses.

Qualifications/Requirements

- Post-secondary education in business administration, public administration, environmental studies, resource management, engineering, energy systems, Indigenous governance, community planning, or a related field. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered.
- Post-secondary education in Land Management, Environmental Studies, Geography, or a related field is considered an asset.
- Project management, energy, environment, governance, or related skilled training or certification is considered an asset.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in energy planning, project development, Indigenous governance, economic development, community planning, environmental management, resource development, or a related field.
- Solid understanding of First Nation governance, rights, consultation, and community engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to develop practical governance tools, policies, procedures, strategic plans, workplans, reports, briefing notes, funding proposals, business cases, and decision-making materials.
- Excellent project coordination and organizational skills,



including the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, track deliverables, and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to explain technical, regulatory, financial, and energy-related information in transparent language for different audiences.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, work with sensitive information, and provide objective advice and recommendations.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Knowledge and understanding of MCFN, its culture, values, traditions, governance, lands, rights, and community priorities.
- Knowledge of Ontario’s electricity sector, including generation, transmission, distribution, regulatory processes, energy planning, and Indigenous participation in energy projects.
- Knowledge of, or experience with, hydroelectric development, renewable and clean energy options, energy efficiency, conservation, storage, or distributed energy resources.
- Knowledge of, or experience working with, energy regulators, utilities, government agencies, the Independent Electricity System Operator, the Ontario Energy Board, funding programs, or industry partners is considered an asset.
- Demonstrated project management skills, including the ability to manage timelines, budgets, deliverables, contracts, consultants, risks, and reporting requirements.
- Experience working with First Nation, Indigenous, not-for-profit, government, or community-based organizations.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and lead engagement activities with MCFN membership,



leadership, departments, committees, partners, and external stakeholders, both on and off reserve.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare briefing notes, reports, presentations, community materials, and recommendations for different audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain respectful working relationships with MCFN leadership, membership, staff, consultants, proponents, government departments, regulators, utilities, and neighboring First Nations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, organizational, and decision-support skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a team environment.
- High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel as required.
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license is required.
