The Opportunity We are currently seeking an Engineering Co-op Student (Mechanical or Structural) to join our Project & Engineering team in Thompson, MB for a 12 month co-op placement starting in fall of 2026.

This role will support engineering and project teams across all stages of project development — from initiation and planning to execution and closeout. It’s an exciting opportunity to gain practical experience in industrial project management and field coordination within a quick-paced mining environment.

Additionally, as an Engineering Co-op Student, you will;

Consistently follow Vale’s safety policies, programs, and legislative standards, with a focus on safety and risk management.





Support Project Leads in developing project scopes, schedules, and budgets.

Assist in coordinating procurement, finance, engineering, and site operations for successful project execution.

Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, cost summaries, Gantt charts, and presentations.

Contribute to field coordination, contractor oversight, and progress tracking on construction sites.

Communicate with vendors, suppliers, contractors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure timely project milestones.

About You

Education

Currently enrolled and in good standing in a Bachelor’s degree program in Civil/Structural, or related Engineering discipline.

Must be returning to studies after the work term.

Preference will be given to students in third year or higher.

Experience

Previous co-op or field experience in industrial, mining, or construction environments is considered an asset.

Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).

Demonstrated teamwork, organization, and problem-solving abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

Experience with AutoCAD or project scheduling software is an asset.

A valid driver’s license is preferred due to site travel requirements.
